Hello, I am looking for information on the RGA 29th and 45th Seige Battery from WW1. Can anyone recommend where I can get further information? Things like where they fought, who was their commanding officers etc, maybe even a list of soldiers. I am trying to piece together my grandfather’s war. It appears that his records are part of the ‘burnt’ documents. Helen
Have you tried The Great War Forum and The Long, Long Trail websites. They have very knowledgeable participants. Pretty sure they will advance your search.
I found burial details of my wife’s grandfather who was killed at Vimy Ridge 12.6.1917 on the Commonwealth War Graves Commission website CWCG.org. He was with the 2nd Siege Battery, Royal Garrison Artillery. You could try the Army Records Office, Middlesex, but unfortunately around 60% of WWI service records were burnt during WWII bombing raids.
