My great grandfather married Sarah Hannah Overend on 08/03/1880 at St Silas Church. His father’s name is left blank. The only other references to him are on the 1881 1891 and 1901 censuses, and of course his death in 1903 aged 50. Despite many years searching I have been unable to find any trace of him before his marriage in 1880. He may not even have been born in Sheffield, but the absence of any birth record seems to indicate that either it was not registered or his name was changed after birth. Does anyone have any suggestions{s} as to where I should be looking.
