David CapewellParticipantMy wife has two ancestors (now deceased) who enlisted in the army sometime after 1920 (I assume for a 2-year service) and then re-enlisted as part of the national call-up for the Second World War. In both cases nothing is known about their army service(s). Because of the 100 year privacy law (and my limited and naive knowledge about available research tools) I have been unable to find any reference to either of their service dates, army units and/or activities. Can anyone help? The individuals are:-
Frederick Richard Carder – Born 1909
William Henry Bradley – Born 1902
Regards

KenofNorwichParticipantMilitary service records are not subject to any ‘100 year’ rule, WW1 records, such as have survived, have been available on Ancestry for several years.
WW2 service records can be purchased from the MOD, here is their web site
https://www.gov.uk/get-copy-military-service-records
Note the 3rd bullet point below!!! The cost is £30 none refundable, even if they do not find anything. Good hunting.
