Yes, a very common name, but having just had sight of the 1921 census I discovered a (lost) relative from Sheffield. We are talking here of circa 1920 and the name is Thomas Charles Jones, he is listed as being a Police Sergeant living at Warley Road. On earlier census records he is at the same address, but not on the 1939 register. I am based in Scotland and there is little chance of my visiting in the near future. Are there Police records anyone knows about, the latest census states he is with the Sheffield Watch Committee? He was married to an Emily Maud (Evelyn) and they had a son named Thomas Owen aged 19 at the 1921 census.
I would be greatly obliged for any information.
