John W Bailey was my great grandad, he married Ethel Barber in November 1916 (I have the marriage certificate) In the parish church at Hillsborough, his occupation on the marriage certificate is Soldier and address is at Chatham in Kent, (Royal Engineers), on the 1911 census his occupation is listed as a miner and on the 1901 census he is listed as a coal miner, on the 1939 register he is listed as an underground haulage colliery hand.
My great grandad and his family are all from the Bolton on Dearne area & Ethel Barber and her family are from the Hillsborough area of Sheffield.
If anyone has any further info it would be gratefully received.
