Jane ELLIOTT born c1840. Father was George ELLIOTT believed to have originated in Yorkshire.
Jane married (1) a Mr ? Thompson, possibly a Lieutenant in the British Army in India. He died soon after their marriage. No marriage found for her to a Thompson in India.
Married (2) William GODDIN 1864 in Madras India. Jane was 20 and William 21. He was a musician in the Governor General of Madras’ official band which may have been part of the Hampshire Regiment.
Any information on these Elliotts sought. William Goddin was my Gt Grandfather.

Wish I could help, I have “Elliotts” in my tree, but do not think they are the same ones. Just a quick question if that’s ok, my great grandad married in India, I am aware of his family and he eventually returned back to Sheffield , but would love to know why he went and what he did there, have you any advice on where I could look? Thankyou, Kim Evans
