      Hi I know this has been asked before (old age) When was a person given 42 days to reg a birth I have a child buried 01-1922 age 18 months but birth reg 1922 Thanks Dave W

      The Births and Deaths Act of 1874 stated that all births had to be registered within 42 days and a penalty was introduced for non-registration within this period.

      My grandmother failed to register a birth within the required time and was fined £2 back in 1904
