Researching the four names of my grandparents all from Sheffield plus many more such as Haden (Swinton area), Clegg (Sheffield).

I will be happy to receive enquiries from anyone else interested in these names.

I do remember my late Aunt working on a part-time basis as a counter clerk for Mr Beardshaw who was sub-postmaster at Duke Street Post Office in the 1970’s.  He was a lovely, polite, tall, bespectacled man I seem to recall (with my failing memory).  He was always correctly referred to as Mr Beardshaw – so never knew his first name!!!

Hi Martin, Deryck was his first name. I know this because he was my dads brother. Thanks for the story.

It’s a small world as they say.  Your Uncle was much respected by my Aunt (who had previously retired from full-time work at Crookes Post Office before working part-time for Mr Beardshaw).  We all lived up the road from Duke Street PO on Hyde Park Terrace – so it was very a very convenient workplace for her.  Excellent.
