When did the forge at Oughtibridge open? I am researching my family tree which includes Garsides in Oughtibridge. As far as I can see there are more file cutters and smiths there than anything else. It would appear that one of my ancestors moved from Kirkburton to Oughtibridge/Bradfield around 1780-1790. His occupation is noted as file cutter later, 1841 census. Would people move to Oughtibridge for work as far back as that?
