It is inexpensive and easy to join our society and membership entitles you to a range of benefits:
- Free copies of four editions of our quarterly journal The Flowing Stream.
- The opportunity to submit articles and material for publication in the journal. Each year a £100 prize is awarded for the best article.
- Free access to our programme of monthly talks and summer trips.
- Free participation in any Zoom-based talks.
- Participation in our online members’ only forum.
- Access to free online resources on our website.
- Opportunities to get involved in transcribing records.
- Opportunities to assist at external fairs.
Annual membership subscriptions
- £10 for UK individual membership
- £12 for UK joint membership (two people living at the same address)
- £12 for non-UK membership
How to join
Our membership year runs from 1st January to 31st December and you can join at any time during the year. If you join
- before 1st October you will be deemed to have paid for the calendar year in which you join. You will receive all copies of the journal for that year (including any back copies) and gain immediate access to the members’ only areas of our website. To renew your membership for the following year, you will need to make another payment before 1st January and not twelve months after the date you joined.
- after 1st October you will be deemed to have paid for the current year and for the following year. You will receive a copy of the Winter journal for the year in which you join and gain immediate access to the members’ only areas of our website. You will automatically continue to be a member until 31st December of the following year.
How to pay
There are three options to pay your membership subscription:
- Credit/debit card online at GenFair or Parish Chest. Follow the link and choose the membership subscription you require. If you don’t have one you will need to create a GenFair or Parish Chest account. A charge of £1.50 (admin) is added to payments made this way.
- Bank transfer You need to print out and complete an application form Post it or scan and email it to our Membership Secretary The Society bank details will be emailed to you on receipt of the form.
- Cheque (UK membership only and we would prefer one of the previous options) Please print out and complete the application form, then post it with your cheque to the Membership Secretary.
Once you have joined
You will be sent a Welcome Pack and be given a membership number. You will be told how to apply for access to the members only content on this website. Don’t forget to tell us if you change your name or your email or postal address. Any queries about subscriptions or receipt of the Flowing Stream should be sent to the Membership Secretary. Please quote your name and membership number in any correspondence with the Society.
